Wonbo Woo is an Emmy Award-winning producer for CBS Sunday Morning, where he covers arts and culture, and produces a wide range of reportorial features. He has worked for all of the major broadcast networks; has run teams in video and public radio; and has taught at institutions including Columbia and CUNY's graduate schools of journalism.
In 2022, he served as executive producer of WNYC Studios and PRX's daily radio show and podcast, The Takeaway, heard on more than 250 public radio stations across the country.
As executive producer of video at WIRED, he oversaw the video strategy for the brand across all platforms. Under his leadership, WIRED's YouTube channel nearly quadrupled subscribers (+375%) and views (+391%), publishing more than 100 videos annually with over a million views each.
From 2012-2015, he was a producer for NBC's Nightly News, writing, editing and producing news and feature stories for the network's flagship newscast. He joined NBC after more than a decade at ABC News, working for Nightline and World News Tonight with Diane Sawyer, Charles Gibson, and Peter Jennings.
At NBC, he covered both the Republican and Democratic National Conventions, and produced anchor interviews with Republican Presidential Candidate Mitt Romney during his foreign policy trip in London and former President Bill Clinton on the day of his DNC address. Wonbo was in Cairo with Nightline anchor Terry Moran in 2011 to cover the Egyptian revolution, reporting from the Presidential Palace when word broke that President Mubarak had stepped down. He arrived in Haiti within 24 hours of the devastating 2010 earthquake and co-produced Diane Sawyer’s coverage of the tragedy. He returned to the country a year later for a story on Christian aid groups.
During the 2008 election cycle, he traveled frequently with World News anchor Charles Gibson, covering the Republican National Convention and New Hampshire primary and producing interviews with George W. Bush, Barack Obama, and John McCain.
Wonbo has reported extensively on religion, covering trends and stories in the Evangelical community, including exclusive interviews with fallen pastor Ted Haggard and atheist pastors who continued to minister even after losing their faith.
